The holidays are fast approaching which usually means things start to slow but that doesn’t mean that you don’t have to list your house for sale! Selling your home during the holidays can actually help you potentially sell your home faster and get the best value for your home. Here are some reasons why you may consider listing your home during the holiday season:

• Less traffic but more serious buyers. While some buyers may pause home shopping during the holidays, eager and motivated buyers will continue to search for the right home.

• Fewer homes on the market makes for a stronger sellers market. With a smaller  inventory of houses, sellers are able to list their homes for the best market value.

• Faster closings due to fewer transactions and motivation of the buyers to move in and get settled before the holidays!

Now that we have gone over some of the benefits of listing your home during the holiday season. Here are some things to keep in mind after your home has been listed:

• Make your home feel warm and inviting by adding lighting such as lamps, candles and/or turning on the fireplace.

• Deck the halls with holiday decor but try not to deck too much because you don’t want to distract potential buyers from the beauty of your home but you want them to embrace the holiday season and cheer.

• The weather outside is frightful so focus the attention inside of the home and pay attention the little details that make your home unique and stand out.  

• Tidy up outside, make sure to keep the yard clear of leaves and walkways free of any snow or ice.

• Don’t forget to remove any presents or valuable holiday decor to help eliminate any potential loss.
